Our Story
Meet the dynamic duo behind Strong Spirits United: Jon and Al.
Their friendship began at UF Health Shands Hospital, where they crossed paths as cardiac dads. Jon, having navigated the hospital journey years prior with his daughter, Khloe, became a source of invaluable support for Al when his daughter, Irie, was born.
Bonding over their daughters' shared diagnoses and experiences, Jon and Al joined forces to create Strong Spirits United. Their shared commitment to family and helping others led them to establish this organization, providing support and fostering connections among fathers navigating the complexities of parenthood amidst congenital heart conditions. Together, they are making a meaningful difference in the lives of families across the community.
Al Cleary
Jonathan Hill
Meet Al Cleary, a seasoned hospitality professional with over two decades of experience managing top hotels and restaurants in FL and NY.
After the birth of his first daughter, Al shifted gears, founding a short-term rental consulting company with his wife, Olivia, to prioritize family time. When his youngest, Irie, was born with HLHS, the family relocated to Gainesville for specialized care at Shands Hospital.
Outside of work, Al enjoys football, exploring beer gardens, practicing Bikram yoga, and spending time with his daughters.
Meet Jon, the founder of Strong Spirits United, and a dedicated family man with a passion for community support.
With a background in local law enforcement, Jon transitioned his career to prioritize family time. Now, he enjoys spending quality moments with his wife and three children, along with pursuing hobbies like camping and football.
Driven by his commitment to family and community, Jon founded Strong Spirits United to make a positive impact on the lives of others facing similar challenges.
